Dirt scooters with a view of the Bernese Oberland

The aerial cable car brings you conveniently to the middle station at Vorsass, to the starting point of the dirt scooter experience. Two varied routes lead from the middle station of the Niederhorn railway down to Beatenberg.

Family reduction: The first child pays, and all other children accompanied by at least one parent are then free-of-charge (this also applies for the renting of dirt scooters and the wildlife observation).

You can rent the dirt scooters at the Vorsass middle station or in the Bärgrestaurant Vorsass (the helmet is included in the price). You can return them at the valley station of the Niederhorn railway in Beatenberg.

Special: We also have special children’s scooters that are ideally suitable for school age children.

You have three options for riding dirt scooters on the Niederhorn:

1. Dirt scooters on the „Direttissima“ route

You need between 20 and 30 minutes for the fast, 6 km „Direttissima“ route, which leads directly from Vorsass to the valley station in Beatenberg. The first part of the route is on an unpaved road in the forest, while the second part is on an asphalt road. We would particularly recommend this route for families that have rented children’s scooters.

2. Dirt scooters on the „Flanierama” route (leisurely)

You will need 40 – 60 minutes for the more leisurely „Flanierama“ route. This route is rather flat, and leads you to Bodenalp along an unpaved road. The road forks here. The second section from Bodenalp to the Rischerental valley is also an unpaved road through the forest. The third part of the route passes through Beatenberg – the longest village in Europe – back to the Beatenberg railway station. Children will not be able to travel this route without a break. Make a stop on the way and enjoy the natural world. We recommend the „Direttissima“ route for families that have rented children’s scooters.

3. Trotti Dinner (from 4 persons, Monday to Friday from June to September)

From a price of CHF 59.00, you can travel on the Lake Thun – Beatenberg – Niederhorn railways from Beatenbucht to Vorsass, the middle station of the Niederhorn railway. A fast downhill run on a dirt scooter awaits you there. From Beatenberg, the cable way brings you to your evening meal in the Beatenbucht. You can then enjoy the alpine panorama and the sunset from the shore of Lake Thun. With a meat selection (a plate of selected types of meat and sausages) with sauces, salad and French fries.

The meal is the worthy conclusion of an eventful day in an incomparable area.
