Easy reachable fun in the snow

Schools are in good hands on the Niederhorn. The sled run from Niederhorn to Vorsass is waiting to be discovered and there are 3 slopes (red and blue) for skiing and snowboarding as well as marked hiking trails. Restaurants and picnic spots are available.

Ideas for school trips

Various sledging

The sled run on the Niederhorn is 3 km long and is suitable for beginners. Sleds can be rented at the Niederhorn station for a small fee.

Varied winter hiking trails

4 different winter hiking trails are waiting to be discovered by your school class. Enjoy the silence of the magical winter wonderland and the crunch of fresh snow whilst marveling at the beautiful panorama.

Skiing and snowboarding

Three different slopes (red and blue) lead from the sunny height of Niederhorn, 1950 m above sea level, down to Vorsass – fun for skiers and snowboarders. A T-bar lift will bring you safely back up the mountain. You can even ride all the way down to Beatenberg station if there is enough snow. Enjoy the beautiful view high above the Lake Thun.

There are several restaurants on the Niederhorn offering fantastic views together with food and drink.

Arrival / departure

Travel to Beatenbucht

  • By bus: STI-bus no. 21, line Thun–Interlaken Ost, get off at «Beatenbucht».
  • By car: from Thun direction Thun–Gunten–Interlaken. You can park your car for a fee at the car park at Beatenbucht.
  • By boat: from Thun or other boat stations along Lake Thun until station «Beatenbucht», carry on by funicular and cable car to the Niederhorn.

Travel to Beatenberg

  • By bus: PostAuto (bus) no. 101, line Interlaken West–Beatenberg, get off at «Beatenberg, station».
  • By car: from Interlaken direction Beatenberg station. You can park your car for a fee in the car park at the Niederhornbahn or in the car park Lood.

Departure from Beatenberg by PostAuto (bus) direction Interlaken West or by funicular to Beatenbucht and by STI-bus until Thun.
