Magical silence and sunny views

Snow shoeing allows you to easily walk on deep snow which is a fantastic experience on the Niederhorn and good for the soul. Off the beaten track and far away from civilization, you can experience nature in its untouched form. Both hikes start from middle station Vorsass.

Every Friday- and Saturday-evening our local guide will accompagny you into the magic winter wonderland around Niederhorn. On the 2 hours tour a warm-up break with homemade mulled-wine will keep you warm. After the tour you will be served with a delicious fondue at the restaurant Vorsass.

From the Vorsass station you hike up in direction north east to Flösch. A short hike through the forest is followed by open space that allows wonderful views across Lake Thun. From Flösch the trail carrys on through light forest up to Unterburgfeld, where the hut with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as an impressive backdrop invites you for a short break. The snow shoe trail leads in the opposite direction from the hiking trail up to Chüematte. On fairweather days the Chüematte bar is open for refreshments. From here the descent starts on the hiking trail. You can reach the Waldegg bus stop at hotel Regina via Hohwald.

Return from Waldegg by PostAuto (bus) no. 101 to Interlaken and Beatenberg station, carry on with the funicular to Beatenbucht and from there by STI-bus (no. 21) to Thun main station or to Interlaken.

Welcome to the longest marked snow shoe trail in the region Berne. This challenging route starts at the middle station Vorsass and leads northeast up to Flösch. After a short ascent along the hiking trail it follows the forest line across to Chüematte. On fairweather weekends the Chüematte bar is open for refreshments. From here the trail climbs up to the huts of Oberberg. Continuing along the south slope of the Gemmenalphorn you reach the foot of Güggisgrat. The view down to the Justistal, the Sigriswiler Rothorn, Sichel and the seven stallions is breathtaking. After a short descent you are in the Seefeld area which reaches all the way to Grünenbergpass. Far away from civilization you feel like you are in a different world. Leaving the Grünenbergpass you enter the snow covered fir tree forest and follow the way down southwards to Habkern.

Guided snowshoe-tour

The new offer - including Fondue and hot-wine

NEW - Our local guide takes you every Friday- and Saturday-evening on a 2 hour snowshoe-tour trough the serene winter landscape around the Niederhorn. Packed up in warm clothing and equiped with head-torches you will follow your guide into the night. During a warm-up break with a homemade mulled-wine you will enjoy the beautifull view high above the lights around Lake Thun. After the tour you are hosted by the restaurant Vorsass for a nice fondue dinner before you can take the cable car back to your starting-point. Please contact us, in order to give you more information about the guided snowshoe-tour.

  • Warm winter clothing (including headgear and gloves) as well as solid winter-boots are compulsory.
  • Head-torches are necessary and not included in the price. (We sell dynamo-driven head-torches at the desk in Beatenbucht or Beatenberg if necessary).

Information-call:
In case of bad weather or insufficient snow conditions, we decide on the day of the event if we can go on the tour or not. In this case we will inform you by phone until 4 p.m..
