Alpine Orienteering Hike
For great tacticians, nimble runners and clever map readers
Hidden paths, cool climbing rocks, a mysterious forest, fascinating wild animals, stunning alpine plants – the area around the Niederhorn offers many interesting adventures. No one else knows the Niederhorn better than the four friends Rocky, Happy, Yummy and Lenny. Together, they are the ROCKY GANG.
The ROCKY GANG loves to hang out on the Niederhorn, searching for trails and exploring the terrain. That's why each of the friends has their own trail with different levels of difficulty.
By the way, there will be great new trails to discover from summer 2026 onwards.
Information and maps are available at the mountain station on the Niederhorn.
Have you found all the posts? Then drop the complete control card in the box at the Bärgrestaurant Vorsass or next to the Berghaus Niederhorn. At the end of the summer season, we will be giving away great prizes.
Routes
Routes
From the 2026 summer season onwards, there will be fantastic new locations for HAPPY's, YUMMY's and LENNY's path.
Rockys Path – Beginner
Rockys Path runs along the ridge way and will make you familiar with the signs of alpine orienteering. You will learn how to handle and use the map and follow the order of the stations. This path is perfect as a warm up preparing for all the other paths that are waiting for you on the Niederhorn. Be like the Rocky-Gang and be considerate of the area, as the Niederhorn is a nature reserve.
Happys Path – Easy
Happy is not the bravest rabbit but he knows all the stories that are being told in the forest. The difficulty of Happys Path is “easy”, perfect for the youngest.
Yummys Path – Medium
If the Rocky-Gang is hungry, Yummy will take care of it. The shy deer is known as a gourmet and always finds the most delicious treats on the Niederhorn. The difficulty of Yummys Path is “medium”, perfect for young explorers that know how to get around in rougher terrain.
Lennys Path – Difficult
Lenny the lynx is always up for a surprise: He is a master in sneaking up to his friends and loves to give them a scary moment by jumping out of nowhere. As its common for a lynx, Lenny has got very sensible ears. How practical, if you are as curious as he is. The difficulty of Lennys path is “hard”, suitable for real specialists only.
